Portland is known for its beautiful parks, and one favorite is Mt. Tabor.  The park is located on the east side of town, and you can easily spend the day exploring the park and any of the vibrant neighborhoods that surround it.  This park is a volcanic cinder dome and has four open reservoirs which enhance its beauty and impressive views of the city. The park offers great photo opportunities, and fun people watching. More active activities include moderate hikes, as well as basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts.

You can make a day out of the visit by first stopping by Coquine, a charming neighborhood restaurant just outside the park and 2018 James Beard award nominee, for a quick pastry and coffee or a bite to eat.  Then after enjoying the park, head to any of the fun surrounding neighborhoods: Hawthorne, Division, Belmont, and Montavilla.

Mt. Tabor is just one of Portland’s beloved parks.  Read more about other favorite natural areas in Portland and Forest Bathing.
